I believe that everyone needs to have a creative outlet and crafting has been my creative outlet since I was a little girl. I have sewn, embroidered, cross stitched, painted, and molded many different things and I am sure that I will continue to do so as long as my body and mind allows.I agree that necessity is the mother of invention, but for me I say that "desire is the mother of creation". When I am not able to find something or afford something that I want, I try to make it. That's why I started making Tiny Tuffets. I love fabric anyway but I really enjoy the search for miniature print fabrics as well as the challenge of making something tiny look so real. One tuffet turned into many, so I decided to try to sell some of them.
(I made this miniature rag rug too)

Like so many of us crafters, I have not been able to get back, monetarily, the time I put into making them. The extra spending money is nice though and it has kept my hobby going with a little to spare.

Every Tiny Tuffet takes me many hours to create. So far, no two have been exactly alike. I have not listed on EBay for over a year because it was getting too difficult for me to practically give them away after the fees and all. At the same time, I was so pleased that they sold and was happy that the collectors who purchased them kept asking for more. I do want to open an Etsy Store in the future, but I want to carve out enough time in my life to devote to it before I do. Sometimes I have too many irons in the fire.

Miniature collecting seems to be a rare hobby out here where I live. I do not know anyone else personally that collects miniatures. I first fell in love with miniatures as a little girl when I went to Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. Mrs. Knotts was an avid collector and they had a large display of her amazing collection. I couldn't get enough of it. I looked forward to going to Knotts Berry Farm just to see the miniature museum. My dad then made me a miniature farm house and over the years I gradually added to it. I often made what I couldn't afford to buy. There was a time when I packed it up and put it away because my children could not keep their hands out of it. Now it is displayed in my living room. My most recent additions were a miniature saxophone, violin and snake. Do any one of you collect miniatures?

Here are a few more of my favorites. Thanks for letting me share with you more of what I like to do. I would love to hear more about the crafts you like to make.

I love miniatures but don't collect them. I think it would be fun to have a farm house and furnish it. Your tuffets are adorable.
those are so cute! you are so talented! i could never do anything like that. mom likes mini stuff and had a gorgeous antique dollhouse but gave it to the oldest daughter which was a huge mistake as it has rotted in a cardboard box for years. i have begged for it and they both get really angry with me! oh well!
We have way more in common than I thought! I collected miniatures for years. I also made many of my furnishings and now have miniature rooms in my china cabinet. I allow my careful granddaughters to play with it. I did a post about my dollhouse last year, in Nov. or Dec. you might enjoy it.
Your words about crafting and the monetary rewards could have been word for word said by me! Beautiful tuffets !
AAAdorable! These are incredible and I especially love the rag rug!
You must have good eyes. I can understand how much you enjoy what you do with the miniatures. My wife makes Teddy Bears and from time to time sells them. No two are exactly alike and she really enjoys making them. Have a great day Joe Todd
I love the tiny tuffets! They are beautiful.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments, it means alot to me.
Kritter Keeper, Oh how sad. A doll house should be out on display and enjoyed. It seems like you would cherish it if you had it.
KathyB, I am going to look for your "miniature" post. I would love to see it.
Joe Todd, Oh, I don't have good eyes anymore, I wish I had the vision I had in my 20's. Thank God for the invention of "OTT-Lite" and magnifiers. If your wife doesn't have an OTT-Lite she may like one too, it makes crafting so much easier. Thanks for visiting.
Clover, Thank you!
